Septic Use Permit Information

Most Counties in the State of Colorado require a Septic Use Inspection and Permit at the sale or change of ownership of a property. Each county has individual rules concerning septic systems and what has to happen with them in order to transfer the title. An approved and certified “third party” inspector will do the inspection. That inspector will check the septic tank, electrical connections, controls and pumps (if the OWTS has these), and the soil treatment area (leach field) and will fill out the appropriate county inspection form. It is the Sellers responsibility to obtain the Use Permits and must be done prior to closing including all improvements that must be done to obtain the use permit. Here are the links to area County regulations and approved Inspectors:
